How To Keep Your Face Looking Young And Fresh

Everyone wants to look young and fresh. It is great to look at someone and see that they have such smooth, soft, and moisturized skin. Having skin like that has tremendous benefits as you grow older because you would not have to battle with terrible aging, wrinkles, or sunburn-like others would.

Another great reason you should take care of your skin is that having great skin helps boost your confidence. You tend to feel and look more attractive, which helps you develop self-love.

To achieve great skin that makes you look fresh and young, you need to rid yourself of terrible eating habits and put a lot of work into a great skincare routine.

Terrible eating habits that cause premature aging

1. Sugar

Sugar is a great sweetener added to meals to make them delicious. However, like every food, sugar must be taken in moderation. This means you should limit the number of sugary things you eat and the amount of sugar you use in your everyday meal.

Excess sugar has terrible effects on the human body. It increases the risk of acne breakouts and breaks down collagen and elastin, the proteins responsible for your skin shape, structure, and firmness. When this happens, your skin may look wrinkled, saggy, dry, and dull.

2. Caffeine

Coffee, tea, and lots of soft drinks contain caffeine. Drinking caffeine has its’ ups and downside, especially as regards your skin. While it acts as an antioxidant, detoxing your skin and increasing circulation, excess caffeine may have terrible effects. This is because caffeine is a stimulant and diuretic, making your body lose water each time you consume it, thereby leading to dehydration.

Also, excess caffeine leaves you sleep deprived, robbing you of a much-needed beauty sleep which leaves you looking tired with big eyebags and even acne.

3. Alcohol

Party girls may have to take heart. Consuming lots of alcohol does great damage to your skin. This is because alcohol causes your body to lose water. This, in turn, leads to dehydration.

Dehydration causes your liver to work at a decreased potential rate as it cannot completely flush waste from the body. This makes the skin dull and dry. Alcohol also causes inflammation of the tissues, which may cause skin inflammation and acne.

 4. Grilled food

Food that has been toasted or grilled contains hydrocarbons. If eaten in excess, these hydrocarbons penetrate the skin barriers, destroy the skin and cause wrinkles, lack of firmness, etc. A negative effect is that excess grilled food consumption may cause stomach cancer.

5. Fried food

Constant consumption of fried food causes damage to the cellular structure of your skin. This leads to aged skin, wrinkles, and acne breakouts.

Also, if you want to lose or maintain weight, you should avoid fried food.

What to do to maintain a great skin

There have been great innovations in the skin care industry. Several products are now at your disposal, whether you want to hydrate your skin or treat some skin care issues. Also, it would be best if you were extra cautious with your food. Always drink water, as keeping your skin hydrated is the most important rule. Other things you may do include:

1. Use a face serum

Invest in using face serums that contain various vitamins. It is important to do your research before delving into face serums. Face serums are great for nourishing your face with the required vitamins. They help keep your skin color and your face smooth.

2. Eat collagen

Collagen is a protein that is essential for the body. It helps increase the elasticity of the skin cells, making your skin firm and bright. In recent times, ready-made collagen has become very popular.

3. Eat nutritious food

Eating a healthy diet helps your body get all the required vitamins. It is often said that the state of your skin helps tell if you are eating healthy and that ‘you are what you eat.

4. Use sunscreen

The sun has a huge impact on the skin. Despite this knowledge, many people tend not to apply sunscreen. This is until the skin begins to respond in a bad way by having sunburns and blemishes.

Direct sunlight on your skin also results in dark and sagging skin. You should get good sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30.
